New Main Entrance Developments for Queen Alexandra Hospital

noviniti is excited to be able to share the news of our continued partnership with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU). Having constructed the new 541-space multi-storey car park which opened in Autumn 2022, our latest project will see the development of both the Main and North Entrances at Queen Alexandra Hospital. These are key projects for the Trust which will ensure they can continue to deliver high-quality services in efficient, well-maintained and well-designed buildings.

noviniti will fund and develop both projects for the PHU with Stepnell being appointed as main contractor for the two-year project.  The first phase of the project, which started in May 2023, will create a 2-storey extension to the Main Entrance of the hospital incorporating a new Trust 255-seat lecture theatre, additional retail space and a Changing Places facility.  Compass Group UK & Ireland’s retail sector, One Retail, will expand their retail provision on site with a new Marks and Spencer Food and the Stock Shop.

Once the works on the Main Entrance have completed, noviniti will start the development of the North Entrance and we look forward to sharing news on these exciting schemes in the coming months.

Marc Hastings, Chief Executive Officer of noviniti commented “We are delighted and proud to have been appointed as the Trust’s development partner for the Main and North Entrance projects. Together, these schemes will deliver a combination of dedicated public space, retail shops and new Trust facilities, enhancing the hospital experience for all in Portsmouth.”

Mark Orchard, Chief Finance Officer at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust said: “This is a fantastic new development which will help improve the experience of those visiting our hospital site.

This is another step in a number of significant improvements to The Queen Alexandra Hospital including improved green spaces around the site. These plans will help us continue to deliver high quality services in efficient, well-maintained and well-designed buildings.”

Andrew Jones, One Retail, Managing Director commented: “Having worked at the hospital for a number of years, we’re now excited to deliver expanded retail services at the hospital, to help patients, staff and visitors. The new front entrance will help to provide a new and warm welcome to all.”
